The leather is soft and worn in, scuffed in the places that show they've been used properly. Leather absorbs. It moulds. It takes the shape of my foot and holds onto everything the way patent never does.
I wear these barefoot. No stockings, no socks, just my feet pressed into the leather lining for hours. The platform shifts my weight forward so the ball of my foot and toes take everything, pressed tight into the toe box while the heel sits high behind me. That pressure point is where it concentrates. The insoles have darkened where my skin has sat against them over and over.
